Flood Watch in effect for Parry Sound and Muskoka

The Parry Sound District is now under a flood watch.  The Ministry of Natural Resources is advising area residents that the potential for flooding exists within specific watercourses and municipalities.  The current forecast is calling for up to 45mm or more precipitation over the weekend with daytime highs between 6 and 13 degrees which will accelerate the melt of the snow pack leading to an increase in the amount of runoff into local bodies of water.  While the MNR says flooding is not expected at this time, residents along rivers and lakes within the Parry Sound-Muskoka area are advised to keep a close watch on conditions and exercise caution around bodies of water as river flows and water levels continue to rise in the coming days.  The MNR is closely monitoring the weather watershed conditions and will issued updates as needed.
