Community members concerned about the fate of the Burk’s Falls family of schools will have an opportunity to speak to the Near North Board of trustees. The Near North District School Board’s accommodation review committee for Almaguin Highlands Secondary School, Land of Lakes, Magnetawan Central, M.A. Wittick, South River, and Sundridge Centennial public schools will present its final report and recommendations to the Board of Trustees for consideration on April 22nd. Community members will have an opportunity to make deputations directly to the Board of Trustees to make their views known before any final decision(s) are made by the Board at a meeting at Land of Lakes Public School in Burk’s Falls on Wednesday, May 21st at 6:30pm in the theatre. Anyone wishing to make a five minute deputation must submit their deputation in writing to Information Officer Carrie Girard by 4:30pm on May 19th including the speaker’s name, address and contact numbers, and the topic. The Board will be deciding the future of the schools involved, in open session, at its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 24th.
