A few local organizations are getting grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The successful groups awarded grants were released today and two local initiatives are benefitting. Shawanaga First Nation is receiving $149,900 over one year to improve the baseball field by adding lights, new soil and hydroseed that will provide a safer environment for players of all ages and allow the community to host local and regional ball tournaments. Meanwhile, $13,900 over one year will go to the Sundridge Strong Joly Arena to install rubber flooring in the lobby which will help to protect skate blades and provide a safer, no-slip surface. There were 13 different organizations across Parry Sound, Muskoka, Nipissing, and North Bay region who received Trillium grants totaling over $1.5 million.
