Georgian Bay Water Festival marks tenth anniversary

The tenth annual Georgian Bay Water Festival took place this week.

The festival is run by high school students at Killbear Provincial park for grade five students. The activities and events at the festival are meant to give students an appreciation for the conservation and ecology of Georgian Bay. Since the start of the festival ten years ago, over 1500 students have taken part.

This year, over 100 students from Nobel, Humphrey, Mactier and McDougall took part in the festival. The Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve says high school student volunteers are key to the event’s success. Delaina Arnold from the GBBR added that it’s exciting to see students take on a teaching role.
