Cascade Street power generation station rebuild in the works

A plan for a new power generation station on Cascade Street is in the works.  Lakeland Holdings CEO Chris Litschko made a deputation to council Tuesday night to inform them of the plans to rebuild the existing plant.

An environmental assessment is underway and many other approvals are needed before construction can begin, but Litschko believes they can be obtained by the end of this year.  The plan is to make the building look good and ensure that it doesn’t block views of the river, but another interesting plan is what they hope to do with a small walleye spawning spot they’ve found near the building.

A public information session will be held regarding this project at the BOCC on April 5th and in addition, a public advisory committee will be set up to help ensure the project is one the community will enjoy.  They hope to have the new generation plant up and running by 2016.
