Fundraising efforts helping teen girl fight rare disease

A Parry Sound family is looking for the community’s support as their daughter fights a very rare disease.  14-year-old Shaelyn Ashawasega-Roy was taken by ambulance to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto on February 23 and diagnosed with a very rare disease called Takayasu Disease.  The disease attacks the arteries and Shaelyn’s main artery to the heart has a tear in it and damage on the outside of it causing fluid to leak into her lungs and two other arteries are being affected.  Shaelyn had to have emergency surgery on March 9 and is in the critical care unit at Sick Kids Hospital where she is expected to be anywhere from 2 to 6 months.  A bank account has been set up at TD Bank under her father’s name, Alfred Crisp.  The Transit number of 33922 and Account number of 6302395 are needed to make a donation.
