Mayor McGarvey looks back on a productive 2016

Mayor Jamie McGarvey used the Mayor’s Levee to highlight what he saw as a productive year in 2016. He cited the demolition and the re- build of the Cascade Street power station, which will provide even more electricity than its predecessor. McGarvey also touched down on the new Medical Centre, the Treetops Community Forest project, new businesses opening downtown and existing businesses expanding in 2016. Also noteworthy for 2016 was the rejuvenation of the former William Beatty School to become the “Sound Community Hub”, which will see a number of apartments and also be the new home for the Friendship Centre as well as the One Kids Place. The Mayor also noted that the addition of affordable to high-end housing to serve all  was vitally important to our community.
