Public Meeting to discuss potential nursing station in Port Severn

The public will have their opinions heard on a nursing station in Port Severn.  A community information night will be held on March 10th at 7:00pm in the council chambers at 99 Lone Pine Road in Port Severn.  The District of Muskoka has announced that the community of Port Severn has been earmarked for a full time Nursing Station as part of a funding application to the Ministry of Health.  Should the application be successful, the community of Port Severn could potentially receive operational dollars to have a Nursing Station with a full time Nurse Practitioner (NP’s) in the community that would serve area residents, visitors and tourists.  Part of the community commitment to the project does require substantial community based fundraising to acquire a permanent location but Georgian Bay Township Mayor Larry Braid, says interim solutions are already being considered to accommodate a temporary location should the Provincial funding application be successful.
