Town supports Spring bear hunt in the Parry Sound District

The Town of Parry Sound is in support of bringing back the Spring Bear Hunt.  At last night’s council meeting, a resolution was passed to encourage the Ministry of Natural Resources to include Wildlife Management Units 46 and 49 which are in the Parry Sound District in their proposed two-year Bear Management Pilot Program.  The proposed program currently does not include WMU 46 or 49 and MNR critic for the Official Opposition Oshawa M.P.P.  Jerry Ouellette feels that they should be included.  According to ministry data, the Parry Sound District is consistently in the top three, and more than once has been the top number one bear-human occurrence district in the province.  The proposed Spring Bear Hunt for Ontario hunters would run from May 1st until June 15th.
