Kids can earn a cool treat for positive behaviour beginning this week

Local police are looking to reward youth who demonstrate positive behaviour beginning this week.  On June 2nd at 11:00am the West Parry Sound OPP and Mac’s Convenience Store will be launching Operation Freeze at Mac’s Mart on Church Street.  Operation Freeze promotes opportunities for officers to interact with youth in a positive manner in support of the OPP Positive Ticketing Program.  Officers may again use the coupons to recognize youth for wearing bicycle helmets, doing good deeds, participating in community activities, picking up trash and pro-actively deterring crime or observing school crossing rules.  In addition to its outstanding public awareness, education and community engagement benefits, the personal impact achieved one youth at a time, by an OPP officer issuing a positive ticket to a child, remains priceless.  West Parry Sound OPP Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Ron Campbell says Positive ticketing is just one way to promote positive relationships between police and the youth of this community.  Officers may use the coupons to recognize youth for wearing bicycle helmets, doing good deeds, participating in community activities, picking up trash and pro-actively deterring crime or observing school crossing rules.
