Government makes changes to Canada’s election system

Changes have been made to Canada’s election system.

The federal government announced the changes yesterday that will protect voters from robo-calls, lifts the ban on early election results, and gives harsher punishments for those who break election laws.

The reforms also make identifying voters at the polling booths more thorough, and allow more money to be donated to political parties.

Our MP, Tony Clement, says the Fair Elections Act will make our laws tough, clear and easy-to-follow, making life harder for election law-breakers, while putting the focus back on honest people taking part in democracy.
