MNRF urges caution around region’s waterways

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – Parry Sound District is advising area residents about a Watershed Conditions Statement. Water Safety is in effect for the District, which includes the District Municipality of Muskoka, the Territorial District of Parry Sound and a north-west portion in the County of Halliburton. Increasing water levels and flow conditions, typical of this time of year, exist throughout the area and residents are reminded to keep a close watch on conditions, regularly check for updated messages and exercise caution near fast-moving rivers and streams. Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions, exercise caution while around water bodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets. With existing conditions and forecasts flooding is not expected but those affected by high water levels in the past are advised to take necessary action to secure any vulnerable property in close proximity to rivers and lakes. MNRF is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions. Further updates will be issued as appropriate.
