Public transit needs to change in Parry Sound

Public transportation in Parry Sound will have to change at the end of this year.  At last night’s council meeting, a resolution was passed stating that the Town of Parry Sound will cease all public transit operations as currently provided by the end of 2014.  Part of the resolution also calls for staff to provide an AODA compliant public transportation proposal to council by August.  Mayor Jamie McGarvey explains why the decision had to be made.

Staff will be looking into alternatives to hopefully find something to provide specialized public transportation in 2015.  Mayor Jamie McGarvey says he looks forward to what staff will come back with.

Staff’s report will be sent to the province with a letter from the Town of Parry Sound to urge the government to ease the rules for smaller urban centres when it comes to public transportation.
