Plenty of minor hockey action this past weekend.
The Optimist Novices were in Mactier and Humphrey for their MPS Championships. In their first game they lost a close match with North Muskoka 5-4. They then lost their second game 6-0 to Huntsville and lost their third game 13-0 to South Muskoka. On Sunday morning they played the Highland Storm and fell 7-2.
The Rotary Atoms were in Huntsville to play their MPS Championships. Their first game was against South Muskoka which they lost 2-1. They next played a tough Highland Storm team and fell 3-0 then played Huntsville in their third game and fell 5-0.
The Fowler Peewees were in Haliburton for their MPS Championships. The team lost their first game 3-1 to Huntsville then fell to South Muskoka 8-3. In their third game, they dropped a 5-2 decision to Highland Storm.
The Ritchie Bantams began their OMHA Playdowns this weekend against the Highland Storm. Game one on Friday saw a very short bench travel to Minden where the Parry Sound team would fall 6-2. Game two of the series was at the BOCC on Sunday. The hometown Shamrocks built a 2-0 lead in the first period but the Storm would score at the end of the first to cut the lead in half. At the end of the second period the two teams found themselves in a 3-3 tie. It would stay tied until the Highland Storm scored with less than 5 minutes to play and Parry Sound couldn’t get the equalizer to fall 4-3.
The Brokerlink Midgets also began their OMHA Playdowns against Elmvale on Sunday night. Game one was played at the BOCC and the home team didn’t disappoint as they dominated most of the play and shutout the Coyotes 3-0.
