The Ritchie Insurance Bantams took part in the Regional Silver Stick in Wasaga Beach over the past weekend.  The team skated to an easy 17-0 win over Oro in their first game on Friday morning.  A highlight of this game was the double-hat trick scored by Anthony Gognavec, with one of the hat tricks coming while the team was short-handed!  Parry Sound faced home-town Wasaga Beach on Friday afternoon and again came out with a big 5-1 win.  On Saturday, they played Ayr.  This was a close-matched pairing and despite already winning 2 games, Parry Sound needed a win or a tie to guarantee themselves a birth in the semi-finals.  Parry Sound came out on top with a nail-biting 4-3 win over Ayr, sending them to the semi-finals Sunday morning – again facing Ayr.  The boys showed that they really wanted a spot in the finals, and managed a 2-1 victory.  The final game was Sunday afternoon, against Penetang.  Penetang scored first, but Parry Sound tied it up 2 minutes later.  Parry Sound got two more goals in the first period, to take a 3-1 lead but Penetang came within 1 late in the first.  Going into the second period with a 3-2 lead, Parry Sound scored two more times to make it 5-2.  Penetang never gave up and nabbed another goal in the second.  Parry Sound took a 5-3 lead into the third period, with parents and fans on the edge of their seats!  Penetang again got within 1 goal in the third period, but Parry Sound nabbed an insurance goal midway through the period, to win the game 6-4.  Adam Badger was named MVP after a four-goal performance in the final!  The team now moves on to the International Silver Stick on January 24-26, in Forest, Ontario

The Brokerlink Midgets were also in Wasaga Beach for the regional silver stick tournament.  The team tied Oro 2-2 in their only game on Friday.  On Saturday morning, they beat Penetang 5-2 then tied Wasaga Beach 1-1 in the afternoon.  On Sunday they played a semifinal game against Penetang and won 3-2.  They faced the home town Wasaga Beach team in the finals where they fell just short in a 2-1 loss
