Ice breaking today in Southern Georgian Bay

Ice breaking operations will begin today in southern Georgian Bay.  The Canadian Coast Guard and Southern Georgian Bay OPP are warning ice users in the Midland Bay area that the Samuel Risley will be ice breaking this morning to help the M/V Frontenac leaving Midland Harbour.  The M/V Frontenac is expected to return to Midland Bay in the near future for winter layup.  The Samuel Risley will also be working in Owen Sound around noon today.  All ice users are advised to stay well clear of the ice breaker and any other ship as they pass through the broken ice channel to their destination.  The ice in front, to the sides and behind the ships will be broken and fragmented and will be unsafe as they  pass through the ice surface.
