MPP pleased with the dismissal of a proposed municipal land transfer tax

A proposed second Land Transfer Tax for municipalities has been shot down by the provincial government.  Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller says the tax was going to be brought into question by Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark on Thursday.  However, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Ted McMeekin, announced on Wednesday the government would not be pursuing the option for municipalities.

Miller had been running a campaign on his website speaking out against the tax.  The tax would have provided municipalities the opportunity to tax new homeowners on property purchases.
