A local couple has been identified as the victims of a fatal crash on Highway 69. Saturday afternoon, West Parry Sound OPP was called to the scene just south of Pointe au Baril where a northbound pickup truck tried to pass two trucks pulling campers and had to swerve to miss an oncoming SUV. The southbound SUV swerved into the northbound lane and hit one of the trucks pulling a camper trailer head on. Andre and Doreen Veilleux, both in their 70’s, of Parry Sound were in the SUV and died of their injuries on the scene. Two people from the pick-up truck and two people from the northbound truck pulling the camper trailer were taken to hospital for treatment and were later released. Officers are still investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact Provincial Constable Aaron Jeffery.
