FedNor funding 100th anniversary of Lock 45 in Port Severn

The Federal Government is supporting the 100th anniversary of Lock 45 on the Trent Severn Waterway.  On Friday, Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement announced a FedNor investment of $15,000 that will enable SEGBAY, formerly known as the South East Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce, to host a series of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Lock 45.  Clement says the Parry Sound–Muskoka region is a globally recognized tourism destination and this targeted investment will further position communities throughout the area for long-term growth and prosperity.  Specifically, the funding will allow the organization to coordinate a variety of tourism activities such as the Reunion of the Lock Masters, a historical market place and displays, re-enactments, and an antique boat show.  The funding is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.
