Four people are okay after capsizing on Georgian Bay. Southern Georgian Bay OPP was called by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Canada Day afternoon after a sail boat didn’t come home on time. The sailboat left a cottage on Band Island around 3:15pm and was due back at 6:00pm and when they didn’t come back at that time, the family called for help. A helicopter was called in to search for the boat and the four people on the boat were found at 11:15pm that night on Pine Island where they had swam and took shelter in a cottage after their boat capsized. The OPP marine unit took the four back to their cottage and remind everyone that wearing your personal floatation devices can save lives in an unexpected mishap.
