Our MPP is questioning the Ontario government on the relocation of the only OPP helicopter in Sudbury. Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller questioned the decision to move the single OPP helicopter base to Orillia last week in the legislature. Miller says the emergency response and search and rescue services provided to our Northern communities and First Nations by the OPP helicopter unit is critical and urges the Minister to review the decision. A case from the previous weekend rang alarm bells as weather conditions prevented the Orillia-based helicopter from responding when the emergency call came in.
