Information sessions coming up for Extended French programs

Parents of Grade five students are invited to information sessions about the extended French program.  The Near North District School Board is holding sessions across the district later this month with a session at William Beatty April 15th at 6:30pm and one at Land of Lakes in Burk’s Falls on April 16th at 5:30pm.  The purpose of the Extended French program is to develop students’ ability to communicate and interact with growing confidence and fluency in both oral and written French.  The program helps foster the effective use of the language and the clear presentation of ideas across the total curriculum.  In this program, French is the language of instruction for 50% to 60% of student learning time in subject areas such as French, social studies, dance and drama.  In secondary school, students take four French Language credits and three credits in other subjects taught in French.  Interested parents are welcome to contact the school principal for more information.
