The fundraising campaign to honour a Wasauksing First Nation hero had begun.  Last week, President of the Ontario Native Education Counselling Association put out the call to all Canadians to help honour Francis Pegahmagabow, the most highly-decorated First Nations soldier of the Great War.  A life-sized bronze sculpture is slated to be installed at the Stockey Center in June of 2016 and the project also includes a video about Pegahmagabow and military contributions made by Canada’s First People.  The entire project needs $85,000 in matching funds and donations can be made online at www.oneca.com.  For more information email [email protected], and visit facebook.com/parryislandhero2016.
