Local OPP want a safe end to the snowmobile season

Local police want snowmobilers to be safe this March Break and for the rest of the season.  West Parry Sound OPP has investigated two snowmobile fatalities and responded to 55 crashes and officers say weather conditions, speed, and alcohol remain contributing factors in the majority of collisions.  Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Ron Campbell says any snowmobile fatality is too many so let’s all do our part to keep our trails safe.  Snowmobilers are reminded to never mix drinking or drugs with operating a snowmobile, respect other trail users such as skiers, pedestrians, and private land owners, and ensure that you wear protective gear including a helmet that fits you.
