Toxicology Report out on recent Carfentanil incident in North Bay

A belief earlier this week of a possible carfentanil overdose in North Bay has been shown to not have been connected to the drug. A toxicology report conducted this week showed no sign of the powerful drug. The case involves a man who presented at North Bay Regional Health Centre after having taken cocaine and whose health quickly worsened. Fearing that the cocaine had been laced with carfentanil, the reversal agent Naloxone was administered successfully. The North Bay – Parry Sound Health Unit is advising that this does not mean that the drug is not in the region and warn drug users that any drug could be mixed with a lethal dose of carfentanil.
