Local athlete competing at Special Olympics National Winter Games

A local snowshoe athlete will be competing at this year’s Special Olympics National Winter Games.  Parry Sound’s Thomas Schweertman will compete in the snowshoeing event at the Games being held in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.  The Games will take place from March 1st to 5th with over 800 athletes from across the country competing in seven sports; Alpine Skiing, Figure Skating, Curling, Speed Skating, Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing and Floor Hockey.  The Games are a qualifier for the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria.  For more information and results on Team Ontario please visit www.specialolympicsontario.com/TeamOntario.  To keep up-to-date on the National Winter Games via social media follow @SpecialOCanada using #TeamOntario2016 and #RockON.
