Salvation Army Christmas Campaign tops fundraising goal by over $9,000

The greater Parry Sound community has come together to raise over $109,000.  This year, the Salvation Army surpassed its 2015 Christmas Campaign fund raising goal by more than $9,000 thanks to the generosity of the Parry Sound and area communities.  The total was made up of over $31,000 donated from the Moose FM Christmas Radio-thon, more than $25,000 from the kettle campaign, and over $37,000 from mail or walk in donations.  Lieutenant Justin Gleadall says a major factor in this year’s campaign success was a direct result of the many organizations, churches, service groups, emergency services, schools, businesses, families, and individuals who generously volunteered over 1,600 hours in just six weeks.  This year, with the help of the community, The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Program provided food, clothing and toys to 307 families, which included 366 children.  Gleadall says the donations raised during the Christmas Campaign not only helped to make this a great Christmas for those in need,  but will ensure that the Salvation Army will continue to help those in desperate need find help and hope over the next 12 months.
