Buying unmarked cigarettes doesn’t save money

A local man has been caught with illegal cigarettes.  West Parry Sound OPP stopped a speeding vehicle on Highway 124 in McDougall earlier this month and noticed a zip lock bag with unmarked cigarettes in the front console.  The 34-year-old passenger from Seguin was charged with possession of unmarked cigarettes and given a ticket.  Police remind everyone it is illegal to buy, possess, or distribute any quantity of untaxed cigarettes or any untaxed tobacco product under the Tobacco Tax Act unless otherwise authorized.
