World Breastfeeding Week starts

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is celebrating World Breastfeeding Week.  Public Health Nurse Anne Smith says during World Breastfeeding Week, we want moms who have decided to breastfeed their babies to know they can breastfeed where and when they like.  For mothers who return to work after their parental leave, the health unit encourages them to continue to breastfeed.  Workplaces can help mothers coming back to work after parental leave by being supportive of breastfeeding moms by developing Family Friendly policies, providing a breastfeeding area, and informing staff and clients.  All it takes is some planning, a supportive workplace and encouragement from family, friends and co-workers.  World Breastfeeding Week begins today and you can find out more about becoming breastfeeding friendly, by going to myhealthunit.ca, or calling the Health Unit at 705-474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808.
